CHOSEN TO LIVE WITH A LIVING HOPE
Who do you believe is in control of the world? Who do you believe is in control of your world?
Some people believe that they are in control. They believe that if they work hard and pursue their goals they will be in control. If things don’t work out the way they want, they blame themselves and work themselves into a frenzy. Sooner the tragedies of life reveal that they are not in control. Some people believe that life is controlled by forces beyond their control. So, when things don’t work out the way they want, they blame bad juju, bad alignment of the planets or bad spirits. They resign themselves to be victims of forces beyond their control.
So, who or what do you believe is in control? Why does this matter?
It matters because who or what you believe is in control determines how you view the world and how you respond to the unavoidable suffering you will experience in your life. The Apostle Peter wrote 1Peter to encourage believers who were suffering horrifically for their faith. Through this letter Peter reminds believers that we have been 'born again' with living hope that is rooted in Christ. By relying on this hope we remember that Christ is in control and through Him we can face the challenges of life.
