When Surprising Doors Open
Have you ever seen a relay race? The point of a relay race is to pass the baton and win the race as a team.
After Adam and Eve sinned against God by default humanity came under the control Satan. The world and humanity came under the vise grip of sin and death. And as sinners we are guilty and powerless to break free. But in the greatness of His love God the Father sent God the Son on the ultimate rescue mission.
Jesus left heaven and took on a human body and lived the sinless life we could never live. He then offered that perfect life as the full and final payment for human sin on a Roman cross. In a sense Jesus stuck out His hand and said to Satan, sin, and death, ‘go ahead and bite me!’ But through His suffering and death Jesus broke the power of Satan, sin, and death over humanity. Jesus was buried and His cold, lifeless body lay in a dark tomb.
BUT on third day…He rose from the dead! Satan, sin, and death could no longer hold Him because Jesus Christ is the source of eternal life!
Jesus appeared to the astonished disciples three times and on the third and last time He passed the baton, the Gospel message of hope to Peter. This message has the power to forgive people's sins and transform people's live but Peter and the early church almost dropped the baton...almost.
Join us this Sunday from 10-11:15 for the last message of our series "'Flawed Follower: Travels with Simon Peter". Join us we learn how Peter almost dropped the baton and more importantly how we can keep passing on the message that transforms lives.
