Rooted In Christ
Who or what is the source of your acceptance, security, and significance in life? We all have an inherent need to identify and connect with others. The people we identify with can profoundly impact our decisions, aspirations, responses to challenges, and especially our sense of self-worth. The truth is no person can consistently behave in a way that is inconsistent with what they believe about themselves. If you think you’re a loser, you will act like one. If you build your identity on the approval of people you will become a slave to what others think of you. If you who build your identity on the temporal things you will become lost when they are taken away.
Our identity – the core of who we understand ourselves to be – is not just a label; it is the very lens through which we see ourselves and navigate the world. The Bible calls Christians to root their identity in the unchanging love and truth that is found in Jesus Christ. A Christian is not simply a person who is forgiven and goes to heaven. A Christian is a person who gets a new nature and new identity because of their faith in Christ.
Join this Sunday from 10-11:15 as we start our summer series called "Rooted in Christ".
A Christian whose identity becomes rooted in Christ learns to detect and reject false and ungodly strongholds in their minds. They learn to live by the powerful truths of who they are in Christ and these truths give them an anchor in the storms of life, a compass in the wilderness and wellspring of confidence in facing adversity.
