STAND STRONG
Trials. Suffering. Believer. Non-believer. No one can avoid trials and suffering. A wise pastor once said, “This side of heaven, we’re either in challenging season, or just coming out of one, or we are headed for one.” The world tells us to pursue comfort and escape suffering. The Word of God and the reality of life tell us something different. Jesus warns us in John 16:33 that, “In this world you will have trouble…”
The brutal fact is that we are all going to experience life faith shaking suffering. Seasons of suffering make it hard to follow Jesus. Really hard.
The Apostle Peter knew what it meant to follow Jesus through seasons of pain and suffering. He shares how God uses suffering for His glory and our good in 1&2 Peter. Peter wrote his first letter to Christians who suffering horrifically for following Jesus. He wrote to encourage them. He wrote to equip them with the hope that would help them to be faithful followers of Jesus in the midst of great suffering.
